Introduction to ISO 8573-1
ISO 8573 is the group of international standards relating to the quality (or purity) of compressed air. The standard consists of nine separate parts, with part 1 relating to quality classifications for compressed air and parts 2 – 9 specifying the methods of testing for a range of contaminants.
The aim of this white-paper is to introduce and explain the objective of the quality classifications for compressed air and where they should be used. The paper also sheds light on the often misquoted and misunderstood class 0 (Class Zero) purity classification, which is often the source of confusion amongs compressed air users.
